
Paul McCann is Managing Director of GE Capital - Corporate Finance for Australia.
Paul was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He attended Monash University, Victoria and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, with a double major in Accounting and Management. Paul then commenced work as an Institutional Banking Analyst for the Commonwealth Bank (CBA) in Melbourne.
Following two years with CBA, Paul joined Coopers & Lybrand/PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Business Advisory Services Division - Melbourne, specializing in Financial Services. Paul worked on the integration of Westpac's acquisition of Bank of Melbourne, and also was instrumental in the design and implementation of cash flow training modules for the ANZ Banking Group's business bank and credit areas. Paul completed his professional year and joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia in 1998.
Paul then commenced work with the National Australia Bank Ltd (NAB) in 1999 as an Executive, Credit Restructuring, responsible for the work-out and recovery of NAB's impaired assets. Subsequent to completing his Advanced Insolvency Law & Practice Certificate through USQ (QLD), Paul was seconded to Michigan National Bank (Detroit) to undertake loan portfolio valuations prior to NAB's divestiture in 2000.
Paul moved to Sydney in August 2000, holding various senior positions with the NAB, including Senior Executive Major Client Group, Head of Business Financial Services Sydney CBD, and Head of Credit NSW & ACT.
Paul joined GE Capital Australia and New Zealand in 2008, to lead the Risk function for Fleet & Equipment Finance and was subsequently promoted to CRO in December 2009 and Managing Director of Corporate Finance in September 2011.
Paul is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FFin), is a member of the Risk Management Association of Australia and completed his MBA through AGSM in 2009.
