Jim Cock is Managing Director of the Fleet and Equipment Finance business in Australia and New Zealand. This encompasses responsibility for Australia's number one fleet operator, Custom Fleet, as well as mid-market financing, principally in the mining transportation and manufacturing sectors.

Jim attended Adelaide University where he obtained a Bachelor of Economics (B.Ec) with an accounting major and an LL.B, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Securities Law. He commenced working as a lawyer in 1989 and specialised in Banking & Finance with national law firm Minter Ellison, firstly in Adelaide and then in Melbourne as a Senior Associate.

Jim has held several leadership roles at GE since he joined in July 1997 as a Senior Corporate Solicitor. In September 1998, he left the legal department to lead the Y2K project for GE Capital's businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Jim is also a former Ombudsman for GE in Australia and New Zealand.

In April 2000, Jim worked in business development - seeking e-business investments, and then in 2001 he took on an operational role, becoming a General Manager for GE Money's Branch Channel.

Jim then moved his family to New Zealand in March 2003 to take up a role as Quality Leader, prior to becoming Managing Director of the New Zealand business in June.

Jim returned to Australia to take up the role of Managing Director of GE Money Direct in October 2006. GE Money Direct is responsible for dealing with consumers directly through marketing, product and distribution across the branch network and direct centres in Buranda, Parramatta and Burnley.

In 2007, Jim was also acting Managing Director of GE Money Insurance for a short period and was director of our APRA regulated insurance companies until this year.

Jim assumed his current role in March 2009.
